The Ministry of Ordinary Places

Drawing from her own experience of moving into a marginalized neighborhood, Martin invites readers to rethink where we believe meaningful ministry happens. It is not always reserved for churches, missions, polished ministries, or platforms. Instead, she encourages intentionality in noticing the everyday places of their lives as a place God intends ministry to occur. Sometimes ministry is showing up, listening well, and loving people right where you are planted. With her book you will learn how ordinary obedience can have eternal impact.
A Mom Is Born

The first book on motherhood I read. It offers an honest and compassionate look at the profound transformation that takes place when a woman becomes a mother - in life, identity, and faith. She explores the shifts in expectations, loss of rhythms, emotional weight, and quiet reshaping through reflection and wisdom. Rather than condemning, she describes the disorientation new mothers feel as a part of the becoming, not a failure. It offers such sweet grace to mamas and was a perfect read for those early postpartum days.
Grumpy Mom Takes a Holiday

If you want to laugh, be convicted, and feel encouraged to change your perspective in this motherhood journey, this book is for you! Unafraid to be honest about the exhaustion, disappointments, and frustrations of motherhood, Condon invites readers to bring these common motherhood moments to God. She intentionally uses Gospel truth and gentle reminders to argue true joy and refreshment in motherhood is not found in a perfect, sunny holiday, but in learning to receive grace, depend on the Lord, and live the gospel in the midst of ordinary days. It is an invitation to lay down perfectionism, laugh at the chaos of motherhood, and rediscover joy in the Lord, who sees, cares, and remains present in every season.
M is for Mama

I can not recommend this motherhood trilogy enough! Halberstadt, author and mother of TEN, speaks to the everyday realities of raising children. Though the cultural narrative surrounding motherhood can at times be disheartening, she points her readers to the beauty of a motherhood lived with and for Christ. Throughout the book, she speaks candidly about various motherhood realities, inviting mamas to do the work of biblical motherhood rather than submitting to the mediocre motherhood narrative. She is funny, she is witty, she is full of truth God will use to encourage and convict! Each chapter finishes with reflection questions, application prompts, and a word of encouragement.
Risen Motherhood

I love the readability and practicality of this book for any christian mama! It focuses on helping mamas see every part of motherhood through the Gospel lens, reminding readers that motherhood is a place where God's grace is continually at work. We can, in our motherhood, live out the Gospel daily with our children. Each chapter closes with reflections and discussion questions too, which is awesome for deeper connection, small groups, or mentoring!
Mama Bear Apologetics

One of my favorites! It can be overwhelming to think about raising your kids in a culture filled with so many competing messages - this book is there to help! It targets some of the big "toxic ideas" and belief systems that are subtly woven into our lives, explaining the ideas championed, the lies being told, and how we can guide our children toward biblical truth in light of this. It empowers readers to engage tough questions, focused more on nurturing hearts than winning arguments. It also includes discussion and reflection questions, recommended resources, and practical application to help transfer the information into daily practice with ease! The other associated resources - "Honest Prayers for Mama Bears" and the "Mama Bear Apologetics Study Guide," also make this book a good small group resource.
Why Motherhood Matters

This is a thoughtful exploration of the enduring and eternal value of motherhood. McCarthy beautifully encourages readers to see motherhood not as a lesser calling or detour from meaningful work, but as a God-given vocation with lasting spiritual significance. Through each chapter, she offers evidence, encouraging mamas to resist comparison and cultural pressures, and reminding them through theology, cultural reflection, and personal insight that this is holy work. Each chapter concludes with practical steps, a parenting principle, and a prayer to help you put the chapter content into practice. She does include personal stories of child loss that may be triggering for some readers.
Hard is Not the Same Thing as Bad

Book number two in Halberstadt's motherhood trilogy. With honesty and humor, she encourages mothers to hold space for both gratitude and grief, joy and exhaustion, reminding them that God is present and purposeful even when circumstances feel uncomfortable or unclear. She gently challenges the belief that if something is hard, it must mean we've made the wrong choice or are doing something wrong. It is time to release shame, trust God, and walk forward with courage and hope. As in the first book, at the end of each chapter, you will find reflection questions, perspective-shifting prompts, and encouragement.
A Million Tiny Moments

This would be the perfect book to keep on your counter fir quick Scripture reminders targeted to the many moments of motherhood! With short reflections on milestones, mundane moments, unseen rhythms, and the complex emotions of this special journey, the authors seek to encourage and point mamas back to God's presence and promises. Motherhood is made of a million tiny moments that we should live out with love and faithfully offer to God.
Mama Bear Apologetics - Guide to Sexuality

I think this book holds great value in today's culture. Set up similarly to "Mama Bear Apologetics," this book addresses the ideologies, truths, lies, and Christian responses for issues of sexuality and intimacy. Again, it is aimed at helping mamas be present, informed, and willing to engage with their children, helping them navigate prominent cultural messages with grace and clarity. At the end of each chapter you will find reflection and discussion questions, resources for further reading, and practical application tips. There is an associated "Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality Discipleship Workbook" available for use in small group settings or a personal deeper dive!
The Read Aloud Family

Have you ever thought about the impact of reading aloud to your children? Have you ever wanted to make this a rhythm for your family but were unsure where to start? Well, Mackenzie is here to offer a practical guide to help families build connection, cultivate imagination, and shape hearts through the simple practice of reading aloud together. In her book she discusses not only the benefits of establishing sustainable reading habits, but also draws from personal experience to offer guidance for engaging children of different ages. Her book concludes with chapters for different age ranges discussing the best read-aloud Bible, how to select age appropriate books, and a detailed guide of her favorites to get you started!
You Bet Your Stretch Marks

The final book in Halberstadt's motherhood trilogy, this book meets mamas right where they are. Again, you will find honesty, humor, and biblical insight intertwined as Halberstadt reminds readers that the inevitable stretching involved with raising littles is worth it. Stretch marks aren't just a bodily change; they are a symbol of everything motherhood demands and gives in return - sacrifice, growth, surrender, and fierce love. Motherhood does not diminish, but refines and reveals a strength you didn't know you had. Each chapter concludes with reflection questions, practical prompts, and encouragement.
