Welcome to Girl Redefined

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!"
2 Corinthians 5:17

I am so glad you are here! Feel free to grab a cup of coffee & hang out for a while. This site is a place where faith and ED recovery unite. Here, you will find resources and tools that encourage you to let go of an identity built on illness, so that you might know the empowerment and confidence found in stepping into your God-given identity.

There is a lot to explore! What are you waiting for?

Let Me Introduce Myself!

Hello! My name is Alissa Hastings. Blogger, PA-C, & coffee enthusiast.

Six years ago, as a senior in high school, I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. For several years I passively participated in various mentorships & treatments, never truly wanting to get rid of ED. Until I hit rock bottom. There I found myself desperate for help, as the thing that once gave me control had taken both my control and identity.

So, I gave recovery a go, & while it wasn't easy, with wonderful support I mustered up every ounce of energy left to take down my unseen enemy. Yet, no matter how many challenges I conquered, I found myself stuck halfway between sick & well. Until, I started to pursue my relationship with God that had been lying dormant. As I dug into His word and learned more about my identity in Christ, everything changed. I was redefined

Now my goal is to help others not only understand eating disorders & support them in recovery, but to do so from a faith based perspective. You were made mind, body, & spirit, so it only makes sense that you require focus in all three to fully heal.

& trust me... an identity found in God is all you could imagine...& more.

I know from experience that sometimes, especially during recovery, those eating disorder noises can become loud and entirely overwhelming. Always telling you of your worthlessness & failures. But those are all lies. How can we combat it then? Put on our headphones, turn up that volume, and drown out with lies with truth, encouragement, and affirmations about who we are really.
